Raven Vandermere writes dark fae Romantasy from a remote part of the world she does not name. She has loved fae mythology since she was nine years old. She has never recovered.
Her debut series, The Whispermark Saga, is a six-book dark Why-Choose Romantasy about Lyra Ashwood — a mortal woman whose words can unmake the world. Books One through Four are available now. Books Five and Six finish the saga across late 2026 and Spring 2027.
Her second series, The Vornhal Vow, opens with The Fourth Cell — a gothic prison beneath a frozen lake, four chained monsters, and one Warden who volunteered to be the lock. Six books planned.

A Brief Philosophy
ON WRITING ROMANCE LIKE IT IS THE ARCHITECTURE
Romance is not a guilty pleasure. It is the architecture of the work. Every saga I write begins with a bond — a thing that struck before the story did, that the characters did not choose, that the world will not let them undo. Every page after that is the slow, deliberate, unapologetic work of figuring out what to do about it.
I write for the reader who picked up her first ACOTAR at fifteen and her first Caroline Peckham at twenty-eight and wants to feel both of those things at once. I write for the reader who has been told her taste is embarrassing. I write for the reader who underlines the slow burn. I write for the reader who, finally, found me.
This is the whole project.
The Cat
CASSIOPEIA
Cassiopeia is a small, scarred, opinionated tortoiseshell who appeared on the porch one November and has been in charge since. She is not photogenic. She does not consent to being discussed. She is the only living creature, to date, that Raven has permitted to disagree with her about a sentence.
The ravens, predictably, do not approve of the cat. The cat is fine with this arrangement.
